The Crucible Essays Plot Overview. In the Puritan New England city of Salem, Massachusetts, a group of women is going dancing in the wooded area with a black slave named Tituba. whilst dancing, they're stuck by way of the local minister, Reverend Parris. one of the women, Parris’s daughter Betty, falls into a coma-like country.
Compared to other characters such as Reverend Parris and Abigail, Hale is not in it to help himself, and he is genuinely trying to help people. Reverend Hale arrives in Salem in response to Reverend Parrisr’s cry for help and although some of the accusations he made may have ended up hurting people, he dedicates his life to his faith and helping people.
One of the girls, Parris’s daughter Betty, falls right into a coma-like state. A crowd gathers in the Parris domestic whilst rumors of witchcraft fill the metropolis.
